WebJan 27, 2008 · 1972 Ford Maverick. My understanding is that 302s are balanced by the flywheel and not the balancer. When ordering my new balancer ,Iwas not asked what size of inbalance was needed. If you dont put the right weight flywheel on the engine, when you fire it up it will tear out the bearings real fast..hope this helps.
