After about 500 miles of riding (I am mainly a road cyclist), the drive side bottom bracket came loose. I stopped riding as soon as I noticed it. I would not think it was a bottom bracket issue unless you tend to submerge it at creek or river crossings. But anyhow, it is easy enough to pull the crank and check the bearings by hand, making sure they don't have play and roll smoothly. WebReally rare, unless the bike was stored in salt water for a while. This looks like a low end crankset though. Probably square taper. Those are more likely to come loose (at which point the crank is shot) than for good steel bearings to allow that kind of play. It is for sure a 3 piece crank set.
