Web3 de set. de 2016 · Bettongia tropica (northern bettong) was the last species described (Wakefield 1967) and is restricted to sclerophyll forest abutting rain forest in the uplands of the wet tropics of northern Queensland (Laurance 1997; Pope et al. 2000) where it is endangered (Woinarski et al. 2014). Bettongia penicillata is classified as two subspecies.
