WebSep 21, 2024 · Regardless, whether you signed or not, you accepted a permanent contract knowing what the standard notice period was and imo, it would be grossly unprofessional to leave without giving notice properly. You'd be leaving your school and pupils in a difficult position. Why not talk to your Head and see if you can negotiate an earlier leaving date?

Has anybody had experience (or know anyone who has) of leaving a teaching job on a shorter notice? I'm not sure what the implications are since the notice period is stipulated in the contract.
